A FEW OF THE MOST RECENT ITEMS WE WANT...
 | MEN AT WORK Business As Usual (Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab
Silver Label Series special limited edition 10-track
LP mastered on the Gain 2 Ultra Analog System. They came
from the land down under. And they conquered the charts like
no bandbefore or since, with a 1982 debut that shattered
records by staying for 15 consecutive weeks at the pole
position on the Billboard Top 100. They were Men at Work, a
quirky bunch led by a Scottish-born vocalist whose humor,
style, and distinguished singing helped the quintet become
one of the 1980s' definitive new-wave acts. And it all started
with the irresistible Business as Usual. Gatefold picture sleeve
with original cover artwork, individually gold-foil numbered &
factory sealed. Recommended)
Tracklisting: Contains Smash Hits "Who Can It Be Now?" and "Down Under"
1/2" / 30 IPS analog copy to analog console to lathe
Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's renowned mastering system and pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing in California, this Silver Label Series LP retrieves an immeasurable amount of previously concealed details from the music. For the first time, the band's percolating rhythms, pulsating guitars, brassy horns, and whimsical beats come to fore without interference from congested mixes and a flat perspective. Spaciousness and imaging are restored, as is the rebirth of palpable dynamic contrast and instrumental separation. Above all, the record is more fun than ever before.
Anchored by two ubiquitous singles, "Who Can It Be Now?" and "Down Under," both still FM radio staples, Business as Usual signified a changing of the guard on the new-wave landscape. With leader Colin Hay's vocals bearing a passing resemblance to those of Sting, and his mates supplying what seems like a constant stream of keening pop-rock hooks, dance-baiting grooves, and brassy rejoinders, the record transcends any limitations and showcases a creative depth that extends to the album cuts. No wonder Men at Work soon shared stages with the likes of the Clash.
Further separating the group from the pack is its wit. Playful, carefree, and exuberant, the songs resonate with a looseness and joyousness with which the decade is forever associated. No deep thinking or profound analysis – just as the best pop tends to be!

 | HANK MOBLEY Third Season (Blue Note Tone Poet
Series 2025 limited edition 6-track stereo LP cut directly
from the original analogue tapes, mastered by Kevin Gray at
Cohearent Audio and pressed at RTI on 180-gram vinyl.
Recorded in 1967but not released until 1980 as part of the LT
Series, Hank Mobley's Third Season was a typically
high-caliber late-60s hard bop outing by the tenor
saxophonist with a heavy focus on his own original
compositions. Mobley had expanded his palette the year
before on A Slice of the Top, an octet date featuring
arrangements by Duke Pearson, but Third Season felt like a
return to a looser, small group feel despite the fact that it still
featured a 7-piece band. High quality tip-on pasted gatefold
picture sleeve, hype sticker & factory sealed inside its loose
bag. Recommended)
Tracklisting: Joining Mobley here are alto saxophonist James Spaulding, trumpeter Lee Morgan, guitarist Sonny Greenwich, pianist Cedar Walton, bassist Walter Booker, and drummer Billy Higgins. The six-song set includes Morgan's blues "The Steppin' Stone," but otherwise presents a diverse collection of Mobley's originals including the hard-charging opener "An Aperitif," laid-back swinger "Don't Cry, Just Sigh," breezy "Boss Bossa," gospel-tinged boogaloo "Give Me That Feelin'," and the intricate title track.
