![](https://images.991.com/70x70/Dizzy+Reece+Blues+In+Trinity+-+Tone+Poet+S-856910.jpg) | DIZZY REECE | DONALD BYRD | ART TAYLOR Blues In Trinity
(Blue Note Tone Poet Series 2025 limited edition
6-track stereo LP cut directly from the original analogue
tapes, mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio and
pressed at RTI on 180-gram vinyl. Reece delivers bravado
performances throughout including the stunning ballad
feature "I Had The Craziest Dream", with Byrd joining for
some friendly sparring on "Close-Up" and "Color Blind."
Taylor anchors the rhythm section throughout with British
pianist Terry Shannon and Canadian bassist Lloyd Thompson,
but the album's ace-up-the-sleeve is arguably British tenor
saxophonist Tubby Hayes who is a robust presence on
standout tracks including the opener "Blues In Trinity" and
the Monk classic "‘Round About Midnight." High quality tip-on
pasted picture sleeve, hype sticker & factory sealed inside its
loose bag. Recommended)
Tracklisting: This stereo Tone Poet Vinyl Edition was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket.
The Kingston, Jamaica born trumpeter Dizzy Reece moved to London at age 17 and began performing across Europe, most frequently in Paris, where he played with the likes of Don Byas and Kenny Clarke. Reece also made fans of Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins who spread the word about a hot new trumpeter on the European scene. So when trumpeter Donald Byrd and drummer Art Taylor came through Paris on tour in 1958 they sought out Reece and even found their way into the recording studio together in London for a U.K.-U.S. jazz summit that would become Reece's Blue Note debut: Blues In Trinity.
The date was produced by Tony Hall who had cut several sessions with Reece for Decca Records' imprint Tempo that had caught the ear of Alfred Lion, and an arrangement was made for Blue Note to release the new album.

Tracklisting: TRUE TO PRODUCER'S ORIGINAL INTENT: EXPERIENCE AND FEEL EVERY ORGANIC NUANCE, SUGGESTIVE DELIVERY, INTIMATE NOTE
The results mirror what went down in the A&M Studios. Lean, simple, direct, and so nakedly real the sonics evoke what might be heard on a professional demo tape, this collectable LP gives what Rolling Stone deems the 36th Greatest Album of All Time the due it deserves. King's personal singing, her graceful pianism, the integral rhythmic foundation provided by the likes of drummer Russ Kunkel and guitarist Danny Kortchmar, and the symmetrical contributions of guest instrumentalists ranging from saxophonist Curtis Amy to guitarist James Taylor resonate with three-dimensional imaging and cozy realism. Every note, every basic movement, accurately rendered with exquisite detail and full-bodied tonality.
Side One
1. I Feel the Earth Move
2. So Far Away
3. It's Too Late
4. Home Again
5. Beautiful
6. Way Over Yonder
Side Two
1. You've Got a Friend
2. Where You Lead
3. Will You Love Me Tomorrow?
4. Smackwater Jack
5. Tapestry
6. (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman
Indeed, one reason – apart from the flawless songwriting, earnest deliveries, and eloquent performances – Tapestry endures is because of the naturalness of the production and songs. King's unadulterated articulations on love, conviction, friendship, place, sadness, and companionship ring true because there's no doubting their meaning, intent, or sincerity. Tapestry makes you feel, and compels you to get closer to the music, and the musicians performing. It is an album of organic nuances, suggestive intents, and engaging melodies.
Thematically, classics such as "You've Got a Friend," "I Feel the Earth Move," "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," and "(You Make Me Feel Like) a Natural Woman" resonate because they address universal sensibilities and the human condition. They, like all of Tapestry, are relaxed yet emancipating, strong yet mellow, comfortable yet terrifically beautiful and lastingly unique. Four major Grammy Awards, four Top 10 singles, sales of more than 25 million copies, and one of the first albums chosen for inclusion in the National Recording Registry just seem like icing on the cake.
