THE DON RENDELL-IAN CARR QUINTET Phase III (Rare 1968 UK 5-track stereo LP of First Class Brit-Jazz for Denis Preston's legendary Lansdowne Series, matt flipback picture sleeve SCX6214)
See 'more info' for further details ...

Tracklisting: Phase III is a finely balanced set from the cream of the crop of British jazz men, with veterans Don Rendell and Ian Carr joined by Michael Garrick on piano, Dave Green on bass and Trevor Tomkin on drums. Experts in the language of jazz with an elegant lyrical approach to their playing, a notable highlight is the closing track Black Marigolds, composed by pianist extraordinaire Michael Garrick, originally intended 'as a musical parallel to an ancient Indian story', influenced by the Indian raga. Condition Because the sleeve was never laminated, the matt finish has resulted in some edge scuffing but otherwise just light shelfwear. The design still looks stunning, as each band member stands out from the black surround, in keeping with Garrick's idea, & all text, including along the spine, remains clearly legible. The labels are the original blue & black design with 'Sold In U.K.' print. The vinyl itself remains in excellent condition with very little sign of play at all. A First Class Brit Jazz rarity that doesn't show up too often at an advantageous price. Tracklisting 01 Crazy Jane 02 On! 03 Les Nieges D'Antan 04 Bath Sheba 05 Black Marigolds
