After releasing a couple of limited edition EPs' Coldplay released their full-length debut 'Parachutes' in November 2000 to rapturous reviews and commercial success. They were caught up in a whirlwind of non stop touring and it was to be two years before the would release the follow up to 'Parachutes' with the stunning 'A Rush Of Blood To the Head'. Rumours were flying that this could have been the bands last album. However their popularity was confirmed with the release of the CD/DVD package 'Live 2003' which was issued later that year. Coldplay began recording material for a third album and re-recorded material a number of times until they were happy with the finished product. 'Speed of Sound' marked the band's first single from the long-awaited third album 'X&Y' in the spring of 2005 and once again met both critical and commercial acclaim.
