For Alto was strictly recorded solo in 1969 on alto saxophone with no overdubs, with pieces named after Braxton's influences including John Cage & Cecil Taylor. The album is highly acclaimed in avant-garde circles & is the record John Zorn heard in his youth that made him want to pursue his adventurous career in music.
