SLADE Slade Alive! (2009 issue UK 7-track digitally remastered 2-LP
set pressed on 180-gram Audiophile Vinyl - 'Slade Alive!'
was recorded at the Command Theatre Studio in London, for just
£600, and released without overdubs of any sort inMarch 1972. The
seven songs on the album captured Slade's transition from
enthusiastic novices with a knack for performing the music of others
into a powerful group in their own right – and the public loved it.
'Slade Alive!' spent over a year[58 weeks to be exact] on the UK
album charts and was a major success across Europe and beyond. As
their fans had come to expect, 'Get Down And Get With It' was the
showstopper, introduced as ever by Ringmaster Noddy with the now
fabled battle cry of: "Well, alriiiiiiiiiiight everybody... let your hair
down!!" The band's version of the Steppenwolf standard 'Born To Be
Wild' was further evidence of their showmanship. Alongside the cover
versions, 'In Like A Shot From My Gun', 'Know Who You Are' and the
rock 'n' roll pastiche, 'Keep On Rocking', all ably represented the
group's own developing compositional ability. Presented in a replica
gatefold picture sleeve)
