Island at this point were more than happy to pilot 'Reebop', formerly Traffic's secret percussive weapon, in a Land Rover across Africa in search of their music & its so-called healing power. This unique meeting took place in a rambling old palace in Tangier. Reebop was a merciless conga player & joined Winwood's Traffic after a meeting on tour in Sweden the previous year [Brian Eno once described the percussionist & all-out hedonist as Traffic's "direct-inject anti-jazz ray gun"!?]. REMI KABAKA Kabaka Son Of Africa (This is probably the rarest of the rare. Take a look on any Island discography you care to choose & you will find this catalogue number listed as 'not issued' but here it is! In 1977 a 10-track LP was issued with handwritten white 'Island Manufacturing Limited' labels in a mock up sleeve with pasted artwork on the front & a press release on the back ILPS9394)
