REMI KABAKA Kabaka Son Of Africa (This is probably the rarest of the rare. Take a look on any Island discography you care to choose & you will find this catalogue number listed as 'not issued' but here it is! In 1977 a 10-track LP was issued with handwritten white 'Island Manufacturing Limited' labels in a mock up sleeve with pasted artwork on the front & a press release on the back ILPS9394)

REEBOP KWAKU BAAH Reebop (Monster Afrobeat 1972 US first press 7-track LP on the pink rim Island label, recorded at Island's London Studios that year & guest starring Steve Winwood. Reebop was a merciless conga player & joined Winwood's Traffic after a meeting on tour in Sweden the previous year [Brian Eno once described the percussionist & all-out hedonist as Traffic's "direct-inject anti-jazz ray gun"!?]. The pasted picture sleeve is still in hype stickered open shrink with the company inner & the vinyl is Excellent, with little evidence of play SW-9304) more...

'REEBOP' KWAKU BAAH & GANOUA Trance (1977 UK Island first press 5-track LP on the orange sunrise label, documenting for the first time on record the music of Ganoua (or G'noua), a mystical sect of North Africa. Island at this point were more than happy to pilot 'Reebop', formerly Traffic's secret percussive weapon, in a Land Rover across Africa in search of their music & its so-called healing power. This unique meeting took place in a rambling old palace in Tangier. With exotic instruments like the Gimbri (a three-stringed lute made from wood & leather), Cocobars (iron castanets) & the Bindir (a tambourine drum) all put to stunning use, this is one magical record, indeed. The sleeve shows light wear, with the vinyl displaying the odd light sign of play ILPS9491) more...
