MILFORD GRAVES Bäbi (Archive Quality 1977 US first press
three-part LP on a light red & black IPS label, recorded the
previous year at the WBAI-FM/Free Music Store in New York
with Arthur Doyle & Hugh Glover on reeds. Recently subject to a
fascinating documentary film, they say Milford Grave's drumkit
was homemade & that he rarely ever ventured outside of his NY
Queens neighbourhood to perform. Here is a man that believed
his instrument - the drums - was capable of far, far more than
just timekeeping. Expect two sides of incendiary fire music &
spontaneous volcanic eruptions from the highest plains! The
pasted picture sleeve [Near Mint] is a remarkable off white with
no deletion cuts & is still in open shrink. The vinyl grades Near
Mint with very little suggestion of play IPSST004)

MILFORD GRAVES AND DON PULLEN In Concert At Yale University
(Insanely rare original 1966 US two-part limited edition private press
vinyl LP on the white deep groove PGI label from the drummer Milford
Graves (New York Art Quartet/Albert Ayler/Sonny Sharrock) and
pianist Don Pullen (Albert Ayler/Charles Mingus), the first volume in
the two-volume series and one of America's first DIY Free Jazz
records. It's a seminal work of free-jazz improvisation, highly praised
by jazz bible DownbeatMagazine and included in Thurston Moore's
recent "top ten from the jazz underground" chart. Housed in a unique
sleeve - all copies were hand painted by either Milford or Don - and no
two are the same. If that's not rare enough, this copy comes complete
with the typewritten A4 insert! See 'more info' for condition details...

MILFORD GRAVES & DON PULLEN Nommo (Very rare original 1967
US three-part private press vinyl LP on a dark blue & yellow SRP
label, the second volume of the 'In Concert at Yale University'
recording and one of America's first DIY Free Jazz records. This
collector's example was obtained from Jazz Journal's Barry McRae's
personal collection. As a British writer for Jazz Journal for many years,
'Bazzer The Jazzer', as he was to become affectionately known, built
up a massive collection ofjazz vinyl of all kinds. Many were review
copies, others signed gifts from musicians, or promo copies, in
addition to the enormous number of records he bought for himself
over the years. The heavyweight pasted picture sleeve even includes
the super rare two page document, one A4 page for Graves and one
page for Pullen that present SRP Records and describe the music. See
'more info' for condition details... LP-290)
