MILES DAVIS + 19 Miles Ahead (1957 first UK pressing 10-track
mono LP on a 'rough' textured black & silver Fontana label, with
Orchestra under the direction of Gil Evans, housed in a beautiful front
laminated flipback sleeve with the original withdrawn 'sailboat' image.
The ever forthright Miles, a man not known to mince his words,
objected to this first design cover depicting a young white woman &
child aboard a sailboat - Miles supposedly asked Columbia executive
George Avakian,"Why'd you put that white bitch on there?" The cover
has lovely rich colours & unmarked laminate [tiny curl back on the
bottom flip far right] & appears Excellent with minimal signs of wear.
The vinyl has a lovely deep sheen & grades Excellent with merely the
lightest evidence of play TFL5007)

issue 10-track MONO LP pressed on heavyweight vinyl on a
pre-"6-eye" maroon & silver Columbia label, housed in the
original withdrawn 'sailboat' sleeve with scalloped flipbacks &
silk finish. In the States, the ever forthright Miles, a man not
known to mince his words, objected to this first design
depicting a young white woman & child aboard a sailboat -
Miles supposedly asked Columbia executive George Avakian,
"Why'd you put that white bitch on there?". The flimsy sleeve
is Excellent with some light ring wear & the vinyl grades
Excellent with a nice deep sheen & just a few faint hairline
marks to indicate play. Our first original Japanese example!

MILES DAVIS +19 Miles Ahead (Rare 1957 first US issue
10-track deep groove mono LP on the six 'eye' 'nonbreakable'
label with machine stamped matrices ending '1G/1F', housed

man not known to mince his words, objected to this first
design cover depicting a young white woman & child aboard a
sailboat - Miles supposedly asked Columbia executive George
Avakian, "Why'd you put that white bitch on there?". The
sleeve is outstanding & shows just the lightest beginnings of
paper splitting to a few edges, only natural with American
sleeves of this vintage, with no writing or deletion marks.
Both panels are beautifully clean with no blemishes. The vinyl
is stunning Excellent to Near Mint with barely any evidence of
play. A beaut! CL1041)
