LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS Sings The Blues (Very rare 1961 US 1st
issue on the deep groove Crown label, pasted picture sleeve.
Seminal set of raw, largely acoustic, blues originally recorded
between 1947 and 1951, originally released as 78s in 1947! The
delicate sleeve, which unbelievably is still in its opened
shrinkwrap, has a seam split along the bottom edge but
otherwise is in Excellent condition, original Crown pressings from

surprisingly good shape with a few light scuffs/hairlines -
playtesting reveals the odd 'crackle', but nothing excessive -

LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS Fast Life Woman (Rare 1962 US 10-track
vinyl LP on the black and silver Verve label, heavyweight pasted
picture sleeve [with EMI import sticker] and detailed liner notes
on the reverse. Authentic gritty blues from one of the masters of
the genre, mostly just Sam Hopkins and his guitar, this is the
blues as social commentary with songs detailing the harder side
of life for the average black American pre-civil rights;
Penitentiary Blues, Jailhouse Blues, Tim Moore's Farm, Fast Life
Woman and more. The sleeve is in superb condition with just a
couple of corner bumps to show for its 58 years! Lovely bright
colours and no seam splits as is often the case with US releases
from this period, the vinyl is even better, with a wonderful bright
sheen and very little evidence of play V8453)
