Originally released in the US in '59, this landmark collection brings together severalearly Chess '45s recorded by Phil Chess, Willie Dixon and Chester Burnett [Howlin' Wolf] plus two recordings made with Sam Phillips at Sun Studios, Memphis in the early '50s. The sleeve grades Excellent with just a little age discolouration tothe reverse and some very minor wear to the opening edge, the vinyl displays some spindle wear but the playing surface is Excellent with just the odd faint cosmetic blemish not affecting play - without doubt the best copy we've ever had the pleasure of offering for sale CRL4006)

Let us start by saying that this is by no means a mint copy. The sleeve is Very Good. The heavyweight vinyl has been professionally cleaned, & playback remains very acceptable, but there are a number of faint & not so faint hairlines visible on the disc, which downgrades this copy considerably. However, with near mint copies [and certainly US originals!] well upin the three figure sum mark, this remains an acceptable [G+] example at a bargain price CRL4006)
