HANK MOBLEY Workout (1963 US transitional issue of the 1961
5-track mono LP, with the 'West 63rd' address printed on side
one & 'New York USA' on side two. 'RVG' is stamped in the
run-out & there is the Plastylite 'ear' etching in both run-offs.
Also stars Grant Green, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers & Philly Joe
Jones. The picture sleeve is heavyweight, pasted & front
laminated, with the 'West 61st' address on the back along with
two tax import stickers. The cover grades Excellent with no seam
splits or writing [two tiny rating stickers are in the top right
corner on the back] & noice clean panels. The vinyl has been
professionally cleaned & play tested & sounds crisp & sharp with
no distortion [you really can't go wrong with Hank!]. We have
carefully graded the vinyl VG/VG- as there is a small scratch at
the end of 'The Best Things In Life Are Free' into 'Greasin' Easy'
causing a few light clicks on rotation with no jumps. There is
otherwise just minor paper hairlines scuffs either side & none of
these blemishes have any real impact on play - the quality of
these early Blue Note pressings really do shine through loud &
proud. Give your hi-fi a Mobley workout! BLP4080)

HANK MOBLEY Mobley's Message (Extremely rare 1956 UK 6-track
deep groove mono LP on Esquire, with 'RVG' hand inscribed in the
run-offs, sonically on a par with its US Prestige counterpart, if not
better. Recorded on July 20, 1956 & starring Donald Byrd, Barry
Harris, Doug Watkins Art Taylor & a young Jackie McLean guesting on
one track, this is a high energy all-star Bop date of the highest order.
Comes housed in a unique fully laminated flipback sleeve, with no
splits or writing. The sleeve is in Excellent condition, even after sixty
years, with just a little mild corner creasing from handling. The vinyl is
super clean & plays beautifully. The sonics are majestic. Visually there
is one small scratch at the start of 'Au Privave' which causes just a
few faint clicks or background surface on rotation, barely noticeable. A
lovely VG+/EX- example for one happy customer)
