EELS End Times (2010 UK Deluxe Edition 18-track 2-CD album set -
Largely self-recorded on an old four track tape machine by EELS
leader Mark Oliver Everett [aka E] in his Los Angeles basement, the
eighth EELS studio album, 'End Times', is the sound of a man who has
lost his great love while struggling with his faith in an increasingly
hostile world teetering on self-destruction. Brutally unblinking, 'End
Times' may be the 'Electro-Shock Blues' of break-up albums. While
the 1998 album dealt with the untimely deaths of Everett's mother,
father and sister, 'End Times' takes a hard look at losing love. This
2-disc edition comes complete with a Bonus 4-track CD
including 'Some Friend', 'Walking Cloud', '$200 Tattoo' & 'The Man

Revelations', 'Hombre Lobo' was recorded entirely at E's studio in Los
Angeles with Koool G Murder [bass, keyboards& guitar] and Knuckles
[drums & percussion]. Regarding the album, E continues: I was thinking, 'What happens when the
young Dog Faced Boy [of 2001's 'Souljacker album'] grows up?' He
tries to function in society. Buthe can't get past the fact that he's still
likened to an animal… I figured the best he could do was to become a
dignified old werewolf. Includes the AA-side singles
'Fresh Blood' and 'My Timing Is Off')
