VARIOUS Anthology Of American Folk Music (1997 US Smithsonian Folkways 84-track 6-CD compilation, this landmark collection was originally released in 1952, featuring American folk, blues and country music recordings that were originally issuedfrom 1927 to 1932. These recordings form the very bedrock of folk, blues, rock 'n' roll and beyond - seminal ain't the word! Comprises THREE DOUBLE CDs, each housed in a jewel case picture sleeve. Includes a copy of the original 28-page 11" x8½"'Handbook' written by Harry Smith and a 68-page 12" square 'Booklet of Essays, Appreciations and Annotations Pertaining to the Anthology Of American Folk Music' which contains information on the artists, the origins of the songs, their discographies and other versions of the songs. Housed in a picture stickered red textured box with belly band. The box shows only a little light fading, but the contents are near as new SFW40090)
