SONNY CLARK TRIO Sonny Clark Trio (Monster rare 1960 US first issue 8-track deep groove mono vinyl LP on a red Time label with 'Long Playing Custom Fidelity' text in white along the bottom & 'L90P 3605/ 3606' machine stamped matrices in the run offs. This album is oh-so rare & often overshadowed by Sonny's work for Blue Note, as it was his only session as a leader that wasn't for Alfred Lion's label. Recorded in NYC on March 23rd, 1960, what you have here is the very finest in Bopled from the piano bench, with all material written by Sonny alongside the great George Duvivier on bass & Max Roach on drums. Comes housed in a heavy duty pasted sleeve with stunning artwork by the contemporary Italian painter, Mino Ceretti. See 'more info' for condition details... T/70010)

Obtained from the prize collection of a life-long Jazz fanatic, with all records bought as exotic imports in the UK at the time of release, here is one extreme rarity that escaped even our knowledge.
The sleeve has lost none of its rich colours & the print on both panels is as vivid as the day it was pressed. The cover has been historically tape reinforced at three corners. There are no seam splits & just some very minor cracking in the paper at a few of the more delicate edges. There is no writing & the spine is clearly legible. A beautiful example & Very Good, indeed.

The vinyl has received a deep cleanse on a top of the range Matrix machine. There is no writing or blemishes to the label print & just a few faint spindle marks by the centre hole to suggest play. The vinyl is super clean & grades Excellent. There are merely the very lightest few paper scuffs under a bright light to indicate that the record has left its original bag on the odd occasion. There are no scratches or any hairlines that would upset play whatsoever. As good as it gets & highly unlikely to be found again any time soon... Highest recommendation.
