SONNY ROLLINS QUINTET Rollins Plays For Bird (Rare 1957 UK 9-track mono LP on a deep groove Esquire label, with machine stamped 'RVG' in the run-offs. This album was recorded within a year of Charlie Parker's passing, & opens with a 27-minute tribute of seven Bird associated tunes seamlessly stitched together. Also stars Kenny Dorham [trumpet], Wade Legge [piano], George Morrow [bass] & Max Roach [drums], & comes housed in a unique laminated flipback sleeve. The sleeve [VG+] showsa bit of colour fade around the edges & some laminate peel to a few corners of the flipbacks, which remain nice & secure. There is some ring wear & minor laminate chipping with no writing. The heavyweight vinyl grades VG+/EX- with a nice sheen & a few minor paper hairlines not affecting play)
