Tracklisting & More Information

Background:

Andrew Loog Oldham produced all Rolling Stones recordings from 1963 until late 1967, despite having no previous experience as a producer. This album, featuring Orchestral Versions of Rolling Stones tunes, did not sell well at the time & has since become quite sought after.

One of the recordings by the Andrew Oldham Orchestra was rediscovered in the 1990s when The Verve used a string loop based on the orchestral arrangement of 'The Last Time' in their song 'Bitter Sweet Symphony'. In the ensuing court battle, songwriting royalties for the Verve track were awarded to ABCKO Records, the owner of the copyright for 'The Last Time' & to which Andrew Oldham sold his share of the Rolling Stones' management in 1966.

Condition:

The labels are the classic red open Decca logo labels with 'ffrr' logo. There are a few spindle marks visible around the centre hole, as you would expect.

The matrix numbers have been machine stamped into the dead vinyl. They are as follows:

Side One ARL-7075-1A
Side Two ARL-7076-1A

Not that this has any particular significance.

The vinyl, whilst obviously played, shows just light surface scuffs & the occasional hairline. Nothing to interfere with play although a degree of background noise may be heard in quiet passages and between tracks.

The sleeve is in nice condition. The front is beautifully bright and clean with undamaged laminate & just a little light wear showing and traces of scuffing at the opening. The edges are intact with clearly legible spine print.
The back shows no more shelfwear than you would expect, with a degree of age yellowing at the edges and minor discolouration around the curcumference of the disc inside. Once again, a degree of scuffing can be observed at the edges.

A very acceptable, if not mint, copy of this hard to find album at an advantageous price.
