MICHAEL JACKSON Sheet Of Stamps (Circa 1985 British Virgin Islands Withdrawn sheet of Fifty $1.50 stamps, featuring two different designs [25 se-tenant pairs], part of the Leaders of the World Series.
The story goes, Michael had won a poll of famous people to have his image usedon a postage stamp to be printed and issued on the Virgin Islands in July 1985, he asked that all revenue from the sale to be donated to welfare and education. The stamps were printed but werewithdrawn before they were issued on theorders of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, at the time no living person other than a member of the royal family was actually permitted to be shown on a postage stamp that required Royal Approval from HM The Queen. On 2nd December 1985 the Caribbean island of St Vincent issued a set with the same design, until they were also withdrawn in 1990)
