MILES DAVIS Birth Of The Cool (Rare original 1956 UK 11-track mono vinyl LP on the turquoise Capitol label, with machine stamped '-1N' matrices in the run-offs. Features early 1949 to early 1950 recording sessions that marked a turning point in jazz towards a more stylistic sound. Includes the masterful 'Move' & 'Boplicity'. This particular copy was used for export; the laminated sleeve, with its scalloped flipbacks, has a Dutch 'Phenix Verzameling' shaped sticker on the back withthe Capitol label amongst its company logos. Condition :-

The cover is in spectacular condition & grades Excellent, with no tears or writing, the design being one of the most iconic of its day. The beautiful 'floating' laminate of the fifties has kept the jacket as clean & presentable as possible both sides. There is some minor peeling to the laminate at the opening edge on the back & the scalloped flipbacks are secure with no blemishes that stand in the way of the print. The back panel remains a gorgeous off white with very little sign of ring wear on the front. The 'Phenix' collection export sticker on the rear also makes for a conversation piece, dating back as far as it does, we have never seen one of these before.

The silver & turquoise labels are undamaged with no writing & just a little spindle wear by the centre hole to show play. The disc is housed in its original period poly inner bag.

The vinyl is super clean & fast approaching near mint, with a deep sheen both sides. We have professionally cleaned the record & playback is exceptional. This is an Excellent example with no blemishes or scratches of any kind, the best you are ever likely to find.
