THE ROLLING STONES The Rolling Stones No.2 (Rare Decca UK custom label test pressing for the original first issue of their second UK album, recorded in 1964 and released on 15th Jan 1965. This is a mono deep groove pressing, as evidenced by the circumferential ridge close to the label perimeter. Being an original '64-'65 test pressing this record has the period correct pale blue Decca test pressing label - the perimeter band around the edge has black radial lines which confirm the RPM speed under a strobe light. Side 1 label is annotated in blue biro with matrix & catalogue numbers, artist & title, and dated in blue fountain pen ink 4.1.1965; Side 2 displays matrix & catalogue numbers in the same blue biro, omits the artist & title, and has a name and address written in blue fountain pen ink. The matrices are machine-stamped XARL-6619-2A and XARL-6620-2A. The condition is good - there is wear evident across its surface with an audible skip at the end of Side 1 Track 2, and the beginning of Side 1 Track 3. Side 2 plays without skips. There are audible pops & crackle throughout both sides. For completeness this test pressing comes with a front laminated flipback picture cover in poor condition, and a period-correct poly-lined inner sleeve in excellent condition. It's near impossible to find test pressings for original sixties Stones albums so this is one we're very pleased to have. LK4661)
