ROLLING STONES The Rolling Stones (Impossibly Rare Test Pressing for the Debut 1964 UK deep groove mono LP, an incredible find that was made as a strict one-off at Decca Records' pressing plant in New Malden, Surrey, featuring only thesix tracks from Side Two of the album on BOTH sides. Includes the 4:06 version of 'Tell Me'. The matrices are machine stamped in the run-outs & read XARL-6272-3A/ XARL-6272-4A - the record does indeed play just the second half of the record. There is a custom studio label one side with 'Factory Sample - Not For Sale' print, a name annotation, rubbed stamped matrix/catalogue number detail as well as 'The Rolling Stones' stamp in purple [plain white 'arrows' on the other side]. Produced purely to test the sonics before any kind of release, the vinyl grades FAIR with a number of hairlines & a few scratch marks. Performance playback is far higher, thanks to the quality of sixties British Vinyl, especially on Decca [Decca's SXL series in the classical world are among the highest priced records for their exceptional sound quality]. We have professionally cleaned the disc & play tested the record & it sounds remarkable. Sixties vinyl really was the best, before the oil crisis, made of near indestructible stuff. A small jump during 'I'm A King Bee' one side is the only hiccup. On a mono setting, surface noise is kept to a bare minimum & there is a distinct lack of distortion on the tracks, with each song coming across loud & clear. Highly recommended for the Stones collector & completist & certainly one of a kind LK4605)
