ELVIS PRESLEY Rock 'n' Roll (Incredibly Rare 1956 UK first
issue 12-track mono LP on the maroon & gold HMV 'nipper'
label, fully laminated scalloped flipback picture sleeve. This
copy is in quite a state to say the least. The cover has
laminate peeling to the front & reverse with a tear and
extensive creasing to the opening edge. Theres is a a section
missing from the reverse with three tears, however the Bob
Dawbarn notes are still fully legible. The spine is split along
around 50% of its length. There is weakening to the panels
caused mainly by ring wear & the colours & iconic design still
look great, but this example falls firmly into the 'Wrecked But
Rare' category. The vinyl has an excessive amount of spindle
marks & name annotations to both labels with light scratches
but has been professionally cleaned & playback remains
astonishing, with no distortion & little surface inbetween
tracks. Upon playback, we were astonished by just how good
this sounds. There were no jumps & just one or two light
clicks in places. Thanks to the quality of fifties British vinyl,
when records were made of real stuff & men were men, the
disc performs far higher than its visual Fair grading. A
legendary piece of Rock n Roll history that we are all too
happy to offer, even in this condition CLP1093) #Top 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time
