THE MODERN JAZZ QUARTET Concorde (Rare original 1955 US
6-track deep groove mono LP, the highly regarded debut MJQ
longplaying record on a black & yellow Prestige label, with 'Bergenfield
N.J.' address & 'RVG' machine stamped in the run-out onside one &
engraved by hand on side two, pasted laminate picture sleeve. A cool
sixty five years later & the cover still holds up remarkably. There is
just one splits to the top edge & otherwise all text appears strong,
legible & the spine and front panel looks frankly majestic. The back
cover reveals a few minor spots of foxing and a few very mild ripples
to the paper but remains fully stuck down, entirely intact with all text
legible and pleasingly no writing or stickers at all. The heavyweight
vinyl is still in great shape with some spindle marks evident and a few
general mild paper hairlines and surface scuffing to reveal play with
only minor affect by way of occasional background noise on play,
overall still an excellent copy that's now tantamount to retirement age,
impressive! PRLP7005)
