SONNY ROLLINS The Sound Of Sonny (1957 first US issue 9-track deep groove mono LP, on the 'reel & mic' label with white background & blue & black text, also starring Sonny Clark, Percy Heath or Paul Chambers & Roy Haynes, pasted laminate picture sleeve. The sleeve is a lovely clean example. Both panels appear remarkably sharp, with all text legible. The top & bottom edges are freshly tape reinforced, & neatly done, due to two inevitable seam splits [2-3"]. The vinyl sounds truly majestic, as well it might given the quality of this original press. Visually speaking, there are a small handful of scuff marks noticeable on the second track but these are virtually inaudible on a mono setting. We would grade the disc VG on visual inspection but really, it plays so much higher, with no distortion & gorgeous clarity. Recommended RLP12-241) more...
