SMILE Earth (Every serious Queen collector has some
knowledge of Smile, the band that featured Brian May, Roger
Taylor and Tim Staffell, who recruited Freddie Mercury when
Staffell left and the band became Queen. What some people
don't know isthat the band were actually signed to Mercury
records in the US and in June 1969 the band were sent into the
recording studio to record a single with a view to issuing it in the
States. The single contained the Staffell penned Earth, and Step
On Me which Staffell co wrote with Brian May. Despite white label
promos of the 7" being pressed and sent to press and radio, the
commercial release was scrapped. In the early 1980's at the
height of their fame due to the renewed interest in Smile and all
things pre-Queen inferior bootlegs of this promo single flooded
the market in a variety of colours. Due to the quality of the
original it was sometimes difficult to tell the difference between a
black vinyl bootleg and the real thing, however this
ORIGINAL white title label wide centred Mercury
promotional vinyl 7" is in superb condition & on close inspection
it is easy to spot the differences. See the 'More Info' section for
more details the matrix numbers and how to identify an original
from a fake. A legendary piece of Queen history - For serious
collectors only!)
