RAMSEY LEWIS Sun Goddess: The Best Of Ramsey Lewis (2011 Japanese issue 32-track 2-CD album - Ramsey Lewis is a jazz legend, and this collection focuses on his sixteen years at Columbia Records, including the iconic, gold selling 'Sun Goddess', a No.1 in both the Billboard Jazz and Black Music charts. 'Sun Goddess' in 1974 was a reunion with Maurice White, Ramsey's drummer between 1966 and 1970 who had played on 'Wade In The Water' but was by now at Columbia setting the world alight with his group Earth Wind & Fire. Ramsey was a jazz fusion pioneer and wanted a funkier sound so brought Maurice and his guys into the studio for 'Sun Goddess' and other albums during the period. Ramsey was so prolific during the 70s and 80s that Columbia have still to reissue all his albums.
