The cover on this copy has some minor creases withthe inner pages superb, this copy has been signed by the late great Jon Lord in a blue ball point pen on his page in the inside. The signature was obtained in a public house in Henley on Thames circa 1989, a friend of the original owner had become friendly with Jon & Ian Paice. Jon became interested in seeing the programme having never seen the finished product and was fascinated in seeing the collages of tour and recording images, after viewing Jon signed it 'Cheers Jon Lord'. JON LORD To Notice Such Things (2010 UK 10-track CD album - 'To Notice Such Things' is a collection of four newly-recorded orchestral works featuring the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Jon himself on piano. The title work – which takes its name from the last line of the Thomas Hardy poem 'Afterwards' – is scored for flute, piano and strings and is a poignant tribute to Jon's long time friend, the late John Mortimer, CBE, QC. Each of the suite's six movements recalls some aspect of Mortimer's illustrious life and career, from literature, liberalism and legalese, to days in the country and musings on life itself. This recording serves as the lasting memento of a great, beloved English eccentric. Also included is a gorgeous instrumental arrangement of Jon's 'Evening Song', 'For Example', a double homage to one of Jon's early piano teacher and an early favourite composer, Edvard Grieg; and 'Air On A Blue String', a blues-meets-Bach fusion. JON LORD & FRIENDS Windows (2009 issue UK 35th Anniversary Limited Edition 4-track digitally remastered CD album - Jon Lord's early experiments at bringing together rock and classical music are at last becoming to be appreciated for the pioneering works they are. 'Windows' takes the story back to the early seventies. It was Jon Lord's third solo album, following the famous 'Concerto For Group & Orchestra' in 1969, and 'Gemini Suite' in 1971. As a result of these albums, Lord had been invited to perform a special concert in Munich in June 1974, and got together with conductor Eberhard Schoener to compose two new pieces. 'Window' comprised three movements, including a reworked section from his earlier 1971 album 'Gemini Suite'. The second piece, 'Continuo On Bach', saw Lord having his stab at finishing a composition which had been left uncompleted upon Bach's death. Jon Lord, fellow Deep Purple musicians David Coverdale [vocals] and Glenn Hughes [bass], and a host of rock luminaries including Ray Fenwick, Pete York and Tony Ashton took part, alongside The Munich Chamber Opera Orchestra.
