FUNKADELIC Uncle Jam Wants You (A bold and
uncompromising response to disco fatigue and commercial
conformity, Uncle Jam Wants You arrived in 1979 as
Funkadelic's eleventh studio album - militant,
satirical, and sonically relentless. A conceptual counterpoint
to the utopian One Nation Under A Groove, the
record's mission was clear: "to rescue dance music from the
blahs." George Clinton and his P-Funk army
delivered with a blistering 15-minute version of"(Not Just)
Knee Deep", a track that would become one of the band's final
hit singles and a cornerstone of hip-hop and funk sampling
culture. The album also includes "Freak of the Week" and the
politically charged "Foot Soldiers (Star Spangled Funky)",
while its striking artwork riffs on the iconic "Uncle Sam Wants
You!" poster, with Clinton pictured in a revolutionary stance
echoing Huey Newton of the Black Panthers. Though not a full
Pedro Bell cover, his influence remains visible in the interior
design. This exclusive limited edition Charly reissue is
pressed on Silver
Vinyl, faithfully reproducing the original 1979
gatefold edition, complete with a lyric inner sleeve, restored
artwork, illustrated booklet with liner notes by John Masouri,
and a 1970s-style obi strip. Each copy is housed in a
protective PVC sleeve. Recommended)
