BUD POWELL The Scene Changes - The Amazing Bud Powell, Vol. 5
(Very rare and in demand original 1959 US 9-track mono deep
groove LP, recorded in December 1958 with Paul Chambers on
bass and Art Taylor drums. The Blue Note labels have the West
63rd, NYC address both sides, plus 'RVG' and 'ear' etchings in the
run-out. Despite a 1" split at the top opening edge, the pasted laminate
sleeve shows only light edge wear and remains in excellent condition;
both the spine and theprint on the reverse are perfectly legible. The
vinyl is incredibly clean with just the lightest few spindle marks to
indicate play. A beautiful example - the chances of us finding another
one are very slim, indeed! BLP4009)

Bud's playing heard here comes mainly from the remarkable May 1953

trio performance featuring Charlie Mingus and Max Roach, with a
relatively calm & controlled Bud, just 3 months out of Creedmore state

BUD POWELL Bud! (US exclusive limited edition 8-track LP pressed

the best of a trio of recordings for Blue Note that are considered a
triumph for this tortured artist. One of the truearchitects of be-bop,
Powell’s recording history, like his personal life, experienced extreme
highs & lows. Before moving to Europe, Blue Note was able to capture
him in a variety of groupings - this August 3, 1957 date fromHackensack studio is near sheer perfection! Superbly presented in pasted card sleeve, housed in perforated tear bag)
