ANTHONY BRAXTON For Alto (70s US issue of the controversial 1971
8-track double LP, on a plain white Delmark label with blue lettering &
'N. Lincoln' address at the bottom. For Alto was strictly recorded solo
in 1969 on alto saxophone with no overdubs, with pieces named after
Braxton's influences including John Cage & Cecil Taylor. The album is
highly acclaimed in avant-garde circles & is the record John Zorn heard
in his youth that made him want to pursue his adventurous career in
music. For others, it's one of the most unlistenable pieces of "music"
ever committed to vinyl. Genius or madman? Well it will certainly make
you think! The gatefold pasted picture sleeve is heavyweight with no
deletion cuts & shows a light crease to a corner. Both vinyl discs are
Excellent with barely any signs of play. Recommended for the
adventurous listener DS-420/421)
