ALVIN BATISTE Musique D'Afrique Nouvelle Orleans (Sealed 1984 US
India Navigation four-part LP suite, a very Progressive release which
celebrates New Orleans culture through African roots. It's quite a
funky-at-times longplayer [thanks to the electric bass grooves] with
classical motifs, spiritual jazz trappings & slight academic approach.
The late Batiste refused to leave his beloved New Orleans after the
destruction of hurricane Katrina, he carried on teaching at the New
Orleans Centre For Creative Arts until his passing. This collector's copy
remains factory sealed from new with no deletion cuts, the vinyl mint &
