STAR NUMBER ONE Maam Bamba (Early '80s French 6-track vinyl LP, laminated picture sleeve. Star Number One were an offshoot of legendary African band Star Band De Dakar, this highly influential release helped popularise 'Afro-Mbalax [an urban dance music from West Africa] the group were known for rivaling Orchestra Baobab and the Star Band, pioneering recording in Paris, and featuring multiple vocalists (Doudou Sow, Pape Djiby Ba, etc.) and top musicians like trumpeter Ali Penda N'Dioye. The sleeve and vinyl both grade Excellent MAG108)
