NATUREBOY Necessary Ruffness Volume 1 (1993 UK 4-track 12" vinyl EP – a deep cut from the Bristol underground courtesy of Miló Johnson, founding member of the seminal Wild Bunch sound system collective, which evolved into Massive Attack and helped define the UK trip-hop and hip hop/R&B fusion scene of the 1990s. Featuring gritty, sample-heavy productions that channel the raw energy of early 90s UK hip hop, Necessary Ruffness Vol. 1 followed Johnson’s pivotal contributions to The Look of Love [Island/4th & B'way], widely regarded as a blueprint for the nascent trip-hop movement. His later collaborations would include work with Salaam Remi (Zhigge, 1992), Japan's Major Force label alongside Hiroshi Fujiwara, Tricky, Ally High, and others. Housed in a distinctive Dubweizer-stamped die-cut sleeve, this rare original pressing is a must for collectors of early UK street soul and leftfield hip hop. The sleeve shows some light shelfwear with minor creasing, while the vinyl remains in Excellent condition with only a few faint signs of play TOMATO12)
