Originally recorded in 1971 with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Malcolm Arnold, the suite blends classical grandeur with rock muscle, featuring guest soloists from across the musical spectrum. Each of the suite's five long-form movements was inspired by a member of Deep Purple, with iconic performances from Albert Lee (guitar), Ian Paice (drums), Roger Glover (bass), Yvonne Elliman & Tony Ashton (vocals), and of course, Jon Lord himself (piano & organ).
