Yakhal' Inkomo: Half-Speed Mastered + Obi

MANKUNKU QUARTET Yakhal' Inkomo (2022 UK/EU Special Edition 4-track vinyl LP reissue of the 1968 album, Half-Speed Mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios - On 23rd July 1968, a now-legendary recording session took place in Johannesburg, South Africa, one that would ultimately prove a defining moment in the country's Jazz history and development. Led by tenor saxophonist Winston 'Mankunku' Ngozi, a quartet that included pianist Lionel Pillay, bassist Agrippa Magwaza, and drummer Early Mabuza would record the album Yakhal' Inkomo which comprises two originals alongside renditions of John Coltrane's Bessie's Blues and Horace Silver's Doodlin'. The album would become arguably the most important Jazz albums of South Africa. Complete with the Abbey Road Studio's custom printed obi, the vinyl looks barely played within the tip-on picture sleeve)
