CURTIS MAYFIELD Roots (2021 UK/EU limited edition 7-track LP pressed on Orange Vinyl, released as part of the 'Rhino Black' series. Curtis Mayfield's visionary 1971 second studio album is a landmark creation every bit as compelling and far-reaching in its musical and extra-musical goals as Marvin Gaye's contemporary 'What's Goin' On'. Opening with the hit 'Get Down', the album soars on some of the sweetest and most eloquent, yet driving, soul sounds heard up to that time. The vinyl looks barely played issued in the gatefold picture sleeve which comes with a perforated fold-out 1972 calendar!)
