BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN The Promise - Darkness On The Edge Of Town Story (2010 UK Deluxe Edition 6-disc [3CD/3 x BLU-RAY] set - This extraordinary deluxe package features nearly six hours of film & more than two hours of audio across 3 CDs & 3 Blu-Ray discs. Comprising 'Darkness On The Edge Of Town', digitally remastered for the first time, as well as the 2-CD 'The Promise' set featuring a collection of previously unreleased songs from the 'Darkness' recording sessions. The set also features a 'Making Of' documentary directed by Grammy & Emmy-winning filmmaker Thom Zimny. The ninety-minute film combines never-before-seen footage of Springsteen & the E Street Band shot between 1976-78, including home rehearsals & studio sessions with new interviews with Springsteen, E Street Band members, manager Jon Landau, former-manager Mike Appel & others closely involved in the making of the record. In addition, the set features more than four hours of live concert film from the Thrill Hill Vault, including the bootleg house cut [the footage that appeared on-screen at the concert] from a 1978 Houston show, plus a 2009 performance of the album in its entirety from Asbury Park. The special performance in Asbury Park was shot in HD without an audience & successfully recreates the stark atmosphere of the original album. All six discs are housed within a Replica spiral-bound notebook with a picture slipbox complete with a 80-page notebook containing facsimiles from Springsteen's original notebooks from the recording sessions, which include alternate lyrics, song ideas, recording details & personal notes in addition to a new essay by Springsteen on the album & never-before-seen photographs! The discs are housed in custom double card wallet sleeves kept in a spiral-bound 'six-pocket' notebook packed with rare exclusive photos & info inside, complete with a custom stickered outer slipcase & wraparound pasted tracklist sheet)
