GRANT GREEN Grant's First Stand (Rare Debut 1962 US 6-track mono LP on Blue Note, one of the purest Soul-Jazz releases for the label, with the original Plastylite 'ear' etchings & 'Van Gelder' stamps in the run-outs. This is a transitional pressing between the first & second issue. The side one label features the 'New York USA' address & side two has the original 'West 63rd' address & 'deep groove'. This killer set often gets a five-star rating from reviewers, with superb backing from organist, Baby Face Willette, & drummer Ben Dixon. Comes housed in the first batch pasted laminate picture sleeve with the original catalogue inner, both with 'West 61st' address print. The cover is in stunning condition with no writing, tears or cuts. The edges are nice & sharp & there is a vintage UK tax import sticker on the back. The panels are clean with very little age wear, this is a superb, Excellent example. The vinyl grades VG+/EX- with a deep sheen both sides. On close inspection there is some faint cosmetic wear which does not affect play. A very pleasing example & now tricky to find in such nice condition! BLP4064)
