HELEN MERRILL Helen Merrill (Rare 1958 US second issue of the debut 1955 7-track mono LP by the celebrated jazz singer, on a deep groove blue & silver label with 'oval' logo, wonderfully arranged by Quincy Jones. Also stars the brilliant Clifford Brown [trumpet], Jimmy Jones [piano] & Oscar Pettiford [bass]. In the great pantheon of Female Jazz Vocal records we wouldn't hesitate to put this at number one, it really is that special. The thick card pasted picture sleeve has beautiful, clean panels & grades Excellent for the most part. There is no creasing or ring wear & the spine is clear as day. There is a delicate tape repair to the top right edge due to a small seam split & around the bottom edge, there is just a few scuffs in the paper. The vinyl has a lovely deep sheen both sides & grades Excellent with just one or two ever so light signs of play. Recommended MG-36006)
