CHARLIE PARKER & DIZZY GILLESPIE Bird & Diz (Absolutely essential 1956 UK trumpeter label 8-track 10" LP, also starring Thelonious Monk or Al Haig, Kenny Dorham, Tommy Turk, Curely Russell or Tommy Potter & Buddy Rich, housed in a fully laminated scalloped sleeve with some of David Stone Martin's greatest artwork. In fact, the sleeve puts it best: 'Modern jazz has had from the start two main sources whence came most of the ideas. These two founts, as it were, of inspiration & of ideas are Charlier Parker & Dizzy Gillespie [Norman Granz]'... & the rest is history! The delicate sleeve is intact [tiny spot of laminate peel at the opening] with just the lightest bit of creasing from handling. The vinyl is Excellent, a beautiful clean example with barely any signs of play. Bop Jazz at its rip-roaring best 33C9026)
