KENNY CLARKE Volume 1 - Telefunken Blues (One-off 1955 UK 8-track mono 12" double-sided metal based ultra high-grade methyl cellulose lacquer acetate, comprising sessions recorded on November 1st 1954 & February 7th 1955, banding together men from threeoutstanding jazz camps: the Count Basie Band [Frank Wess, Henry Coker], the Modern Jazz Quartet [Percy Heath, Milt Jackson] & the West Coast hard-swinging set [Gerald Wiggins, Frank Morgan]. The acetate has a Sapphire manufacturing label bothsides with printed artist/side details & comes with a unique artwork sleeve hand drawn by a keen fan sixty years ago. The condition of the acetate remains in superb condition with very few signs of play or much cosmetic wear of note. The mono playback reveals just a little light surface as to be expected.

This disc was produced & overseen by a keen British fan of the period who witnessed the birth of modern jazz being exported from the States & also the homegrown variety, judging by the amount of Brit-Jazz acetates we have found from the same collection. This chap was also a keen illustrator. The disc is housed between a 12" sized pink card sleeve & the artwork appears to be a unique line art concept.
