SHORTY ROGERS & HIS GIANTS Modern Sounds (Rare 1952 UK 6-track 10" vinyl LP, flipback picture sleeve. Despite the rather plain sleeve, this record packs hidden treasures, featuring the great Art Pepper on Alto, who shines as ever on his improvisations around 'Over The Rainbow', for possibly the first time on disc. Not just Art, there is also Jimmy Giuffre on Tenor, Gene Englund on Tuba, John Graas on French Horn, Hampton Hawes on Piano, Don Bagley on Bass & Shelley Manne on Drums.Considering the lack of laminate protection, the sleeve shows remarkably little shelfwear & the vinyl remains excellent with few signs of play LC6549)
