CHET BAKER Eight Cool Sides & Volume 2 (1953 UK 2 x 10" LP set, the wonderful debut solo recordings from Chet, sixteen tracks in total, representing Chet's earliest recorded concert as a leader at a 1953 LA engagement. The performance took place following the dissolution of the Quartet with Gerry Mulligan, caused by his partner's drug bust & subsequent prison sentence! Eight Cool Sides : -

Now over sixty years of age, it is near impossible to find the sleeve for this record near mint. This one exhibits scuffing & splits at the edges, however the wonderful artwork still shines through & all text remains clearly legible.

The vinyl is clean with just a few faint paper scuffs here & there. Very nice & plays through remarkably with no faults.

Volume 2 :-

The sleeve for this copy fairs well, due to the front panel being laminated & reinforced with flipbacks, unlike the Eight Cool Sides record. There is a little discolouring on the rear & some light ring wear but this is natural with age. There is a shop sticker mark on the back but again, this is unobtrusive & remains in lovely shape.

The vinyl is clean with just a few faint paper scuffs or light cosmetic marks & plays through just fine. Very nice overall - a fine pair of original UK Chet Baker 10" classics!
