The Sleeve

Obtained from a one previous owner collection, with all records bought from new as rare exotic imports at the time, the heavyweight pasted laminate sleeve is in beautiful shape. Clean, with rich, vivid colours & all text clearly legible, there are just a couple of faint storage marks or minor fading around the edges but nothing that detracts from its beauty.

The Labels

This beautiful first issue copy was pressed just after "Blue Note Records" became an incorporated company & a registered trademark, hence the inclusion of 'INC' & 'R' lettering on the labels.

The 'deep grooves' are present both sides & the labels are clean & free from writing, stickers, excessive wear or any other blemishes that would affect the print. There is just a little light spindle wear to indicate play but nothing much of any real consequence.

The Vinyl

The Rudy Van Gelder initials 'RVG' & the 'ear' logo are stamped and etched into the runoff area. The matrices, like the 'ear' are hand scratched. A combination of Van Gelder's sound engineering & Plastylite pressing is well & truly the 'golden age' of highest quality, Blue Note pressings.

The vinyl has been professionally cleaned on a Matrix machine and has come up looking sparkling. Upon closer inspection, there is just a little faint axial wear to the grooves to indicate play, but all in all a very respectable VG+/EX- example that sounds remarkable. The music is lively & right on the money throughout. This really is a must for any serious jazz collection - Blue Note collectors surely won't be seen dead without one!
