Tracklisting & More Information
Woodstock, Live Aid, Live 8 and of course The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. A handful of concerts that will always be remembered. Whether it be for the line-up or the cause involved, of all the multi-artist concerts that take place every year, all over the world only a few remain in our memory long after the day has passed.
Televised to an estimated one billion people worldwide, The Freddie Mercury Tribute concert took place on April 20th 1992, just 5 months after the death of one of the most flamboyant frontmen of all time. Announced in February '92 at the annual BRITS show, all 72,000 tickets for the concert sold out in just two hours (long before the internet) with no details of who would be appearing other than the remaining three band members.
The concert began with short sets from bands that were influenced by the music of Queen, including Metallica, Extreme, Def Leppard and Guns N' Roses.
Between bands, several video clips honouring Freddie were shown, while the roadies changed the stage for the following act's performance.
The second half of the concert featured the three remaining Queen members John Deacon, Brian May and Roger Taylor, along with numerous guest singers and guitarists, listed below.
At the rehearsals for the concert six posters were signed by the artists and later auctioned for charity to raise money for AIDS awareness. All signatures were obtained in person by Jacky Smith of the Queen International Fan Club and this poster comes with a letter of authenticity from her which accompanies our own COA. Footage of some of the artists signing the posters at the rehearsals can be found on the DVD release of the concert.
The poster is autographed by the following people:
