Tracklisting & More Information

Every track on Ziggy Stardust & The Siders From Mars sounds like it was pulled from the rock 'n' roll bible. The album created a mythology that reached beyond the Chuck Berry folklorisms of the everyday rocker to create a new type of rockstar.

With Ziggy, Bowie created a viable alter-ego to descend onto the planet and wreak havoc on rock's fertile soil and in doing so, he created the most original rock creation since the music's inception 20 years before.

Musically, the album was as inspired as Ziggy's persona. Mick Ronson's snarling guitar evoked the triumphant power of the late '60s guitar heroes, but added a flash so dynamic fans knew why the Spiders were labelled 'glitter rockers'.

History & Condition

This first issue pre-dates the Mainman contract and as such there are NO Mainman references or logos anywhere on the sleeve or record label. There is a logo on the rear of the sleeve with the text 'A Gem Production'

The matrix numbers in the run out groove are:
BGBS 0864 -1E & BGBS 0865-2E

The black & white lyric inner is in great condition, with just a little creasing at the edges and a very small tear in the top edge. The cover shows just the lightest signs of spine wear and is otherwise in superb condition.

The label is the original thick orange glossy Victor label, in excellent condition with only a little foxing, and the vinyl itself is the thick & strong pressing, unlike many later pressings which used Dynaflex flexi vinyl. It is also beautifully shiny with no surface marks.

The vinyl itself plays perfectly with no crackles, scratches or jumps of any sort. Visually it is clean with barely any signs of play. Glorious!
