Asked why he chose Love for his band's name, frontman and multi-instrumentalist Arthur Lee said, "It's a big word." Maverick poet, musical alchemist, Lee emerged from the L.A. club scene in the mid-'60s and spun a kaleidoscope of influences-from folk to jazz to mariachi-into a propulsive sound that these ten original recordings distill into the ideal intro to his much-underappreciated band.
