SMALL FACES My Mind's Eye (Rare 1966 UK Decca demo label 7" vinyl single with intact four prong centre, and the A-side label showing a large A printed on the left hand side. Below the curved Decca logo is the statement 'Demonstration Sample Not For Sale' with release date information, also including I Can't Dance With You, Decca company die-cut paper sleeve. This is the rare sample containing the 'Demo' mix, identified by the A Side matrix XDR-39235-T1-1C. The story behind this isthatthe band initially passed an unfinished version to their manager, who then passed it on to Decca. By the time the group knew what had happened, Decca had used the tape to press up an initial batch of 500 demos and a few hundred 'stock' copies identifiable by the matrix ending 'T1-1C'. After the band protested to Decca, the stock copies were withdrawn from sale and the correct finished mix, with the matrix ending 'T2-1C', was hurriedly rushed out to the shops in much greater numbers. This copy comes from a former employee of Decca and as a result the vinyl has just a handful of light surface scuffs with little sign of spindle wear, leaving it Excellent F.12500)
