My Bonnie - Stereo

TONY SHERIDAN AND THE BEAT BROTHERS My Bonnie (Incredibly rare & legendary 1962 German 12-track STEREO LP on the orange 'scroll' Polydor label that marked the first ever released recordings by The Beatles in the world - EVER. This was the album that started it all. The glossy picture sleeve is in amazing condition & the vinyl has to be seen to be believed - it is MINT, absolutely IMMACULATE. It would be impossible to find better vinyl than this. Considering that mono copies outnumbered stereo copies of this album by almost a hundred to one, this is even rarer than the stereo black & gold 'Please Please Me' - A staggering copy that even we are stunned by - Phenomenal! Tracklisting & More Information

History :-

On The Beatles' first visit to Hamburg, Germany in 1960, they met classic rock 'n' roller Tony Sheridan & became friends with him. Tony actually taught George some new guitar licks. On their second visit in 1961 (now minus Stu Sutcliffe), The Beatles backed Sheridan in a series of stage performances. It is sometimes said that German Polydor agent Bert Kaempfert personally saw Sheridan with The Beatles, but others report that a friend of Kaempfert's suggested that he bring them in to put down some recordings. They recorded a number of songs together and alone, but only two of them actually made it on to the album for certain, although there are rumours of The Beatles also backing on "Swanee River", "The Saints" & possibly other tracks. As to what was recorded at the session(s) by The Beatles, it is known for certain that "My Bonnie", "The Saints", "Why", "Cry For a Shadow", "Ain't She Sweet", "Take Out Some Insurance On Me Baby" and "Nobody's Child" plus "Sweet Georgia Brown" were recorded with the band in either June 1961 or April 1962, although only two are officially credited on the album. John Lennon & Tony Sheridan also remembered recording "Skinny Minny" & "Swanee River" in a second session in May 1962. The Beatles are known to appear for certain on "My Bonnie" and "The Saints" (and were credited as such on the back of the sleeve) which was then released as a single to precede the album.
The single was released in two versions - The "rock" version with the intro in German (October 1961) & the "twist" version with the intro in English (January 1962).
The album was issued in June 1962.

This really is the 'big bang' moment as regards Beatle history - Everything exploded from here.

The album fathered the single and the single was the very one that Ray Jones asked for when he walked into Brian Epstein's NEMS shop on October 28, 1961, asking for a copy of the Beatles' single, "My Bonnie". After learning who the Beatles were, Epstein managed to stock and sell at least 100 copies of the single! By as soon as November 6th, Polydor was planning a British release of the record, and by the end of the year Brian Epstein had become the manager for the group and was attempting to secure them their own contract - The rest is history.

Condition :-

The sleeve is thin format, silk finish, non-flipback with very high quality heavy printing that actually indents the black text into the thin sleeve card. The sleeve surprisingly seems to have lived in a smoke free environment, away from sunlight & has retained its crisp colouring, lettering & white background. A nice touch is that the sleeve is dated 6.62 on the back.
There are no major creases, there is no writing, there are no tears & the spine is still clearly readable.

Fantastic & far & away the best condition sleeve that we have ever seen.

The vinyl :-

Mint.
Immaculate.
Flawless.
Pristine.
PERFECT.

Nothing more to say !
